The season is not one season
Manta in Baa runs June to November. The cheap months do not. July and August are a family mini-peak, and the houses do not discount them like May.
December to April is the season the atolls sell: dry, full, and priced for a certain sky. The rest of the year is not one bargain. May, June and September are the wet windows. Strong houses still cut, sometimes deeply, and a new opening is easiest to enter then. July and August are European school holidays. August 2025 already brought 192,000 arrivals, close to an October, and the Office's instruction is plain: there is no dump-season discount, and a family villa wants six to nine months. August 2026 closed at 195,390, above the year before. Baa's manta season is a third fact, running June to November around Hanifaru. It sits on top of both calendars. It does not make July cheap.
A manta aggregation is not a festival. It cannot be moved, and a house is either next to it or it is not. Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru and Soneva Fushi are next to it. A villa in South Malé is not, however pretty the rate. The country outside the resort is not this article. This article is only the season and the atoll.
The three windows, used properly
Value is May, June and September: rain, and the discounts. July and August are the family peak inside the monsoon: book the connecting villa early, and do not arrive expecting an empty jetty. October and November clear, the manta is still in Baa, and the rate sits about twenty to thirty percent under the festive weeks. December to April is the sky you pay for, with minimum stays on the holidays. If that sky is the product, pay it.
Shoulder-season buyouts cost half the December quote.
Book Baa nine to twelve months out for the houses that still have a dusk seaplane. Book South Malé three months out if you are coming in February and will not risk the hub. Do not book 'the Maldives in summer' as if it were one weather. Name the atoll. Then look at the sky.

Where the house is open, that is the official rate and the privileges that house actually honours. Where it is not open, the answer is that it is not open. Miles and status are not a promise on a project with no reservations.
